New (school) year, new masthead. MediaFile is excited to announce the incoming Editorial Board for the 2018-2019 year, effective May 3rd, 2018. The outgoing board members will aid in bringing MediaFile’s editorial vision to life during the transition process.
Rob Cline will be taking a helm as MediaFile’s new Editor-in-Chief. He comes into the position as the site’s Opinions Editor, where he has lead to the Opinions staff into writing incredibly insightful and thoughtful pieces that have made the MediaFile operation even stronger. You can also find him as a frequent voice on MediaFile’s podcast The Media Pod. We’re excited to see what Rob will bring to the table, and are confident that he’ll do great things that will bring our content to the next level.
Caroline Corbett will be stepping up as Deputy Editor. She comes to us from her position as Copy Editor, which she’ll also occupy as she finds a suitable replacement and trains them up for the spot. Caroline has also been a frequent voice on The Media Pod. As Copy Editor, she has read every single story from every publishing day since she took up the position. No one knows the tone and the content of MediaFile like she does. We’re amped to see her tighten up MediaFile’s content even more from an editorial side, and what kind of creative ideas she’ll bring.
Jenna Presta will be our new Politics Editor. While Jenna is very new to the MediaFile family, her previous work in the International section stuck out as sharp, crisp, and focused. We have full confidence that Jenna will bestow her knack for interesting stories and great writing abilities to the old and new writers on the Politics staff.
Celine Castronuovo and Shayna Greene are going to be co-International Editors, with each one taking the helm for one semester. Both are going abroad during the next school year, but were committed enough to MediaFile that they decided to share the role while the other was out of the country. Both Shayna and Celine have grown so much as writers since MediaFile’s beginning, and we are so excited for them to lead the section.
Jeremy Marsh will be our Business Editor. Jeremy’s writing has been nothing short of marvelous for the very niche media business beat. The story ideas he has brought to the Business section as staff writer have been equally impressive. We can’t wait to see what he’ll do as he leads the section into a new year.
Felicia Kalkman will be our new Technology Editor. She originally started out as an Opinions writer at MediaFile, but switched to Tech–where she has written about the fast-paced intersection of tech and media. She got a hang of the tech-media beat very quickly, and we know her passion for the section will make Tech even greater.
Last but certainly not least, Honora Gibbons will be our new Opinions Editor. Much like her predecessor, she writes thoughtfully and with nuance. Her voice in the Opinions section as a staff writer has been a strong one, and we know the section–our little “Garden of Thought”–will be in good hands with her at the helm.
Along with our new Editorial Board, Julian Strachan will take the role of Business Director and Samantha Cookinham will be our new Communications Director.
As we usher in a new era of MediaFile, we’d also like to wholeheartedly thank the old section editors. MediaFile is only as strong as its staff, and the 2017-2018 year has been an incredible one. The editors have been vital for making MediaFile’s second year as successful as it was. We’ve been a great team that consistently pushed out quality, meaningful content.
We’re so excited for MediaFile’s future, and we hope you keep reading!
