MediaFile is a team of student reporters, both undergraduate and graduate, who are passionate about the fields of journalism, communications, media studies, politics, international affairs, business management, data analytics and more. While based out of GWU’s School of Media and Public Affairs, MediaFile writers come from colleges and universities from across the country.
We value diverse voices, backgrounds, and viewpoints, and strive to provide students with crucial reporting, writing, and editing experience for their next job or internship. Our writers are given the opportunity to have their work regularly published and reach a wide audience of readers and listeners.
We accept new applications for writers and support staff year-round. MediaFile’s staff serves on a part-time, volunteer basis. The qualifications for our writing positions include:
- An interest in how media and journalism affect current events and civic discourse.
- The ability to pace your work and meet deadlines.
- The ability to allow your work to be edited by others.
- A desire to engage with a network of writers and alumni.
